About the Artist

Kristen Maready lives and paints in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She began her career as an elementary school teacher, which provided experiences that have proven essential to her own education in re-learning how to correctly see and interpret the world in a less-distracted, more wonder-filled way. Later, she left education to study art formally at Appalachian State University and the University of North Carolina Asheville. Since then, she has studied extensively under several accomplished artists and has been painting full-time since 2013. She delights in continually learning new things.

She is fascinated by light, both physical and symbolic, and is forever searching for new ways to see it, capture it, and share it.
